About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Backend Developer – Node.js with 4–5 years of hands-on experience in backend application development. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Node.js and JavaScript, experience building scalable REST APIs, and a solid understanding of PostgreSQL databases.

The candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain reliable backend services while following industry best practices, coding standards, and Agile development methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and high-performance backend applications using Node.js.
• Build and maintain robust RESTful APIs for web and application-based solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and efficient code following established coding standards.
• Work with PostgreSQL databases, including database design, SQL queries, indexing, and performance optimization.
• Use ORM libraries such as Sequelize, Prisma, or similar tools for efficient database interaction.
• Implement and maintain authentication and authorization mechanisms using technologies such as JWT and OAuth.
• Perform API testing and debugging using tools such as Postman.
• Use Git and standard branching strategies for source code management.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to secure coding practices and development standards.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, product teams, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software.
• Participate in application deployment and release processes.
• Implement effective logging, monitoring, and debugging practices to ensure application reliability.
• Follow Agile/Scrum methodologies and contribute to sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Track and manage development tasks using Jira or similar issue-tracking tools.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, code quality, and system performance.

Required Technical Skills

• 4–5 years of professional experience in backend development using Node.js.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+) and asynchronous programming concepts.
• Hands-on experience developing and integrating REST APIs.
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL, including:
  • Database design
  • SQL queries
  • Indexing
  • Query and performance optimization
• Experience with ORM libraries such as Sequelize, Prisma, or similar.
• Good understanding of Git and standard branching strategies.
• Experience or understanding of application deployment and release processes.
• Knowledge of API testing tools such as Postman.
• Basic understanding of authentication and authorization, including JWT and OAuth.
• Familiarity with logging, monitoring, troubleshooting, and debugging techniques.
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts is an added advantage.

Process & Development Practices

• Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience working within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Knowledge of coding standards, clean code practices, and software development best practices.
• Understanding of secure coding practices and code review processes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and practices is an advantage.
• Experience using Jira or similar issue-tracking and project management tools.
